Switzerland adheres to the agreement reached at the OECD on a new tax system for multinationals, under certain conditions, the Federal Department of Finance (FDF) said on Thursday.

"Switzerland adheres to it by declaring itself in favor of continuing the work, but maintains its reservations and its conditions"

, underlines the FDF in a press release.

In total, 130 countries, not including Ireland, however, reached an agreement on Thursday on a reform of the taxation of multinationals, including the introduction of a minimum tax

"of at least 15%" 

on the benefits that drive these negotiations.

Certain conditions

The FDF stresses that

"Switzerland, like other countries, adhered to these guidelines despite great reluctance, by declaring itself in favor of the continuation of the project and by issuing its conditions"

"thus explicitly demands that the interests of small innovative countries be duly taken into account in the final formulation of the rules and that the legislative procedures of the countries concerned be respected during the implementation"

, explains the press release. Switzerland, he continues,

“also wants member countries to apply the new rules in a uniform manner and, as regards the minimum tax rate, that the solution adopted be balanced in terms of the tax rate and the tax rate. the tax base ”

In parallel to the work of the OECD, the Federal Department of Finance indicates that it will draw up proposals for the government by the first quarter of 2022
