Hertha investor Lars Windhorst has rejected new reports of payment difficulties as untrue.
The soccer magazine »Kicker« had previously written that a tranche of the outstanding 65 million euros agreed for July 1 had not yet arrived at Hertha BSC.
The association therefore threatened the entrepreneur with the seizure of his shares.
Windhorst described these reports as "nonsense" to the Wirtschaftswoche.
The effect of these rumors is rather "that I am even more motivated to contribute with all my energy to making Hertha BSC a success story." His investment is geared towards many, many years.
On request, Hertha announced that the receipt of payment for the coming Monday, July 5th, had been agreed.
Waiting for the money
In fact, it is by no means the first time that Hertha BSC has had to wait longer than planned for the entrepreneur's millions.
Windhorst joined the football club in 2019 through his Tennor Holding.
For 224 million euros, he acquired a good 50 percent of the shares in the professional department of the club.
An agreement stipulated that Windhorst would pay a further 150 million by October 2020, increasing it to 66.6 percent.
But there were delays in payment.
The club superiors agreed to another delay at the end of May.
Windhorst was to transfer the remaining 65 million in two tranches on July 1 and August 15 of this year.
The entrepreneur had already promised further payments last week.
»We have already invested EUR 310 million so far.
And we stand by our word and at the side of Hertha BSC, even if it is not an easy time for the club in terms of sport.
Of course, as agreed, we will transfer the rest of the money on time, ”Windhorst tweeted.
