2021-07-07T17:39:41.295Z

For now, traffic is peaking at "70%" of normal during the week, a figure which "rises to 80% on weekends, or even 90% on the RER".

Will the situation one day return to normal in Ile-de-France transport?

Tuesday, July 6, the boss of the RATP, Catherine Guillouard, said she was confident about the frequentation of her group's networks in the years to come.

For now, traffic is peaking at "

70%

" of normal during the week, a figure which "

rises to 80% on weekends, or even 90% on the RER

". Three major changes explain this limitation in attendance: teleworking, the absence of many foreign tourists, including Asian travelers, and “e-

commerce, which exploded during the crisis

”. Consumers prefer to buy from home, at the same time limiting the use of public transport.

As a logical consequence of these behavioral changes, RATP expects to lose at least 10% of its usual attendance over the next 18 to 24 months. The network would not exceed "

90% of [its] usual gauge

", then would gradually return to normal, thanks to the line extensions planned by 2024. "

We risk having a dip for a while, but we will regain firepower

”as these extensions are completed, said Catherine Guillouard.

The boss of the railway group also defended the diversity of her group: infrastructure management, "

large real estate operator

", public transport operator, mobility app, partner of Chronopost and Amazon in the management of the last mile via its centers bus ... RATP aims to be transparent and innovative. “

We have 240 monitoring indicators, which have been positioned by Île-de-France Mobilités,

” said the president. These indicators "

are recorded every week

", and make it possible to see whether the "

4.8 billion trips per year

" are made under the best conditions.
