The Government will
advance the 35% increase
in the minimum wage, vital and mobile (SMVM)
to September
and will pay it in three installments.
In this way, the salary floor of the economy will rise to $ 29,160,
five months ahead of schedule
and after an informal agreement between the Ministry of Labor, the labor unions and the business community.
The measure
will be made official in the next few hours
through an exceptional resolution of the labor portfolio headed by Claudio Moroni, and
the objective is to promote the recovery of wages
, "a necessary condition for the economy to sustain the reactivation underway," according to the regulations to which
Clarín
agreed
.
Specifically, the new scheme provides for the payment of
$ 27,216 in July
(before they were $ 25,920),
$ 28,080 in August
(before there was no payment in that month)
and $ 29,160 in September
(before they were $ 25,920).

These three installments will replace the five that were pending and extended until November of this year and February of next.
The changes
also represent an increase
with respect to the expected payments, so that the advance will imply an additional increase of
5% in July, 8.3% in August and 8% in September
.
In that month, there will also be a renegotiation instance.
"Everything is advanced and
in September they can sit down to review,
" they confirmed from Work.
The Government seeks to accelerate the growth of wages so that they beat inflation, after accumulating a
loss close to 25% in the last three years
.
Until last April, the compensation of employees continued to fall, but a recovery is expected in the second half, so that growth would be zero in 2021.
The advance of the minimum wage is
in line with the decision to reformulate the parity
and abandon the inflation target of 29%.
After the inflationary jump in March, the Executive authorized the
advance of increases
in some sectors (Banking and Porters)
and a new salary guideline
of between 40 and 45% (Truckers, Employees of Congress, PAMI and ANSES).
In recent days, other unions have joined the request to advance quotas or reopen joint quotas ahead of time.
This is the case of the employees of Commerce, oil workers, grain receivers, the state employees of the central administration, and the public employees and teachers of Buenos Aires.
In this scenario, Moroni began negotiations with the leadership of the CGT and the industrialists of the UIA to agree an exceptional advance due to the apparent difficulty of urgently convening the National Council for Employment, Productivity and the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Salary.
That tripartite body set last April the 35% increase in seven installments.
The Ministry of Labor considered that this restriction "
requires the issuance of a measure
until said body meets again ...
anticipating the deadlines set
so that they accompany the ongoing process that can be seen."
But it does not mention inflation, which in June would reach 25%.
The cegetista position
Prior to knowing the official decision, the CGT announced in a statement that "in
view of the sustained advance of inflation
, steps have been taken
with the Ministry of Labor of the Nation,
and
it has been decided to advance the validity of the increases in
the Minimum Wage, Vital and Mobile ".
On the other hand, the labor portfolio pointed out that the measure "was something that the Government had already adopted and
Claudio spoke with all the parties
."
The efforts included virtual talks with the head of the UIA,
Daniel Funes de Rioja
, who is isolated by Covid.
The SMVM affects a large number of
unregistered or informal
workers
who take this parameter as a reference.
In addition, it impacts labor agreements with lower incomes, such as provincial employees and formal workers "out of the agreement".
It also impacts almost
1 million beneficiaries of social plans
, such as Boost Work, who receive half the minimum wage.
It is a reference for the
Progresar scholarships
because the beneficiary receives this aid if the family earns less than three SMVM and affects retirement assets.
"For all this, the advancement of the Minimum Wage increases
is of utmost importance to maintain the value of purchasing power
and fundamental in the battle against inflation, which hits the income of millions of workers every day," concluded the CGT.
