The storms and floods that hit France between June 16 and 29 caused around 235,000 claims at a cost of 550 million euros, the French Insurance Federation (FFA) said in a statement Thursday.

Among the main material damages are the flooding of many homes and public buildings, as well as collapsing and flying roofs,
" said the FFA.
Ile-de-France, the most affected territory

The job of insurers is to protect and we are fully mobilized, alongside the victims and the public authorities.
Faced with the proliferation of bad weather linked to global warming, the mobilization of all public and private actors is an absolute necessity
”, underlined Florence Lustman, president of the FFA, quoted in the press release.
Among the five most affected territories, which are Ile-de-France, Aisne, Gironde, Marne and Oise, Ile-de-France has concentrated "
the vast majority of damage
".
An episode close to the 2018 floods
The thunderstorms that affected a large part of France in June caused various local bad weather with gusts, hailstones or intense precipitation, which caused a mudslide in the Puy-de-Dôme.

According to insurers, “
this episode can be compared to the floods and hailstorms between May 25 and June 14, 2018, which caused 273,000 claims at a cost of 731 million euros
”.
