Over the years, the perception has taken hold that a bachelor's degree is the first step towards economic independence.

However, there are a number of issues that bother those who want to study, ranging from the high tuition, through the investment required and the effects on the course of life, to the long time to invest until receiving the coveted certificate.

Are degree studies suitable for everyone?

And how do you choose the best route?

Her listener to the broadcast on business coach Alon Gal's show on 103FM radio flooded the issue and asked for a wave of advice.

The 27-year-old listener said he was at a crossroads.

Now that the sick leave period is over, he must decide where he is headed. He shared the dilemma he is struggling with - whether to start a bachelor's degree at one of the educational institutions; since it is a matter of several years he must devote to it, and admitted: "I have this thought."

Alon Gal noted to him that in his view, degree studies are suitable for those who have "one hundred thousand shekels available, and are in no hurry to go anywhere."

But limit this, saying: "There are a number of study subjects in academia that in order to practice them at a certain point you will have to, for better or worse, study in academic institutions to get the certificate. For example, medicine, law or clinical psychology."

However, Gal clarified that if the listener is interested in a general degree, "it's a really, really, really unnecessary idea," and explained: "With all due respect, what you usually do is copy summaries all day, take endless pages of pages, and find the most not-so-courses. "Relevant to your progress, just because others will testify that the requirements for the test and work are easier. In the end, after 4-3 years, you will complete a degree and be exactly at your occupational level as a" fun "

"The fact that you studied for 3 years will not give you an advantage"

Alon advised the listener to explore the possibility of taking focused courses, and said that in coaching studies, "there are licensed schools. You study for several months seriously, according to an orderly plan, the method according to the Coaches' Chamber definitions; and eventually become a certified coach, get a certificate. "To sign up, you have to do a few more months of practicum. For example, we are committed to establishing a real practice that makes money."

He added, "There are leading organizations in the world today that are happy to find and sort people who have not gone this way of degree studies. There are 4-3 month courses, that you come out with abilities and a licensed certificate. That you studied 3 years will not give you an advantage. The organization says - "He specifically learned the specific thing I want. Once you're inside, you can evolve, learn another course while working."

At the end of the conversation, Gal advised the listener: "Define what really interests you and challenges you. Do a real search on what courses exist today. It is important to note that the company delivering the course will be a good, experienced brand, and you know for example which organizations they work with. "Ask for approvals from the companies that work with them, and ask to speak with recommenders."
