Searches for fake health passes have multiplied in recent hours on the web

Google searches for terms like "fake vaccine," "fake health pass" or "fake covid test" exploded Monday night, as did proposals for fake certificates.

Is vaccination becoming (almost) unavoidable?

Never mind !

While nearly 1.7 million French people have made an appointment on Doctolib since Monday, some prefer to look for a fake vaccination certificate.

In any case, this is what the explosion of Google requests for the terms “

false covid certificate

”, “

false health pass

” or even “

false vaccine

suggests

last night, following the announcements of Emmanuel Macron.

Before the speech of the President of the Republic, one could count between 500 and 600 searches per month of the term "f

ausse attestation

" on Google.

This morning, there are more than 4000 according to the SEO tool SEMrush and this, only for this very precise search term: the trend is also observed on "

false vaccine

", "

false test covid

" or "

false health pass

”.

On social networks too, illegal requests and proposals are swarming. On Twitter, Internet users in search of false attestation mainly exchange Snapchat nicknames with evocative names: “

plansanitaire22

”, “

PA2vaccin69

”, ...

If Snapchat seems to be the most used for this kind of transaction, other “

also do the trick like Jabber, Wickr or Telegram list David Sygula, cybersecurity analyst at CybelAngel.

People who want to get fake, if they do not lack the means, however take high risks: on these communications networks, "

a good half of the proposals are scams

" estimates the specialist in cybersecurity.

Enough to cool the anti-vaccines, especially in view of the large sums - several hundred euros - claimed by counterfeiters.

Fake certificate on the darknet

On the darknet, however, the proposals seem a little more “serious”.

I saw an ad that offers a pass for 400 euros,

” says David Sygula, who always keeps an eye on certain forums that are inaccessible to traditional browsers.

The cyber security analyst claims to recognize fake ads quite easily, “

this one seems credible

” shares the expert.

I suspect an insider, capable of generating real certificates with QR codes, on the basis of false information

".

"

Only a few people try it

"

The forger could therefore be a person who administers the vaccine ... like a pharmacist.

Some of them are also solicited to generate fakes.

"We

have warned all pharmacists of this risk

" confirms Gilles Bonnefond, the national president of the Union of Unions of Community Pharmacists (USPO) who specifies, however, that it is minimal: "

only a few people try it

" .

Unfortunately, these attestation traffics are not new.

For several months now, many people have been using counterfeits ... At their own risk: the offense of forgery or use of forgery is punishable by 3 years in prison and a fine of € 45,000.
