Stiftung Warentest: Only four out of 20 FFP2 masks are recommended

The Stiftung Warentest has examined FFP2 masks for the second time. The good news: the filter effect is high in all 20 test subjects. However, some of the good ones are apparently vastly overpriced.

The testers can therefore recommend the "Aua 9320" mask from the manufacturer 3M as well as the models from Lindenpartner, Moldex and Uvex.

All four provided "very good" protection against aerosols, offered enough breathing comfort, impressed with their fit and tightness, and performed inconspicuously in the pollutant tests.

The masks come from providers who specialize in work and respiratory protection masks, as Stiftung Warentest emphasized.

However, the price differences are huge: According to "test", the Uvex mask costs only 67 cents each;

For the 3M mask, which is also recommended, you have to pay a lush 2.74 euros.

Because of the poor breathing comfort, seven masks are "not very suitable" according to Stiftung Warentest, including those available from Chinese manufacturers and discount drugstores.

Those who wear them are more likely to get worse air than under masks with high breathing comfort.

According to »test«, seven other masks are only suitable to a limited extent due to their fit.

It is important to check the secure fit of the respiratory protection yourself, explained the testers.

This is a sign that the mask fits perfectly and does not leak: when you breathe out, it inflates, when you breathe in, it contracts.
