", declared Bruno Le Maire, recalling the French experience of the wave of protest against "
yellow vests
", during a joint press briefing with his counterpart. German Peter Altmaier in Paris.
Two alerts
Asked about the negotiations that will open in Brussels, Bruno Le Maire said "
support the ambition
" of the European Commission in terms of climate protection.
"
But we are putting two very clear alerts
," he added.
The first concerns the most modest categories, which risk being affected, according to the minister, by the enlargement of the European carbon market (the ETS, the EU emissions trading system, or ETS according to the acronym) to road transport and heating of buildings.
On the other hand, the Minister maintained that it was necessary to support "
the industrial sectors which are most affected by this acceleration of the transition
", via "
a transition fund, on which we are ready to work with the European Commission
" .
