Franco-German space agreement on Ariane 6


Bruno Le Maire and Peter Altmaier promise to secure the operation of the successor to Ariane 5 and to make progress on the subject of minifuses.

An agreement has finally been found on the European support mechanism for the operation of Ariane 6, successor to the Ariane 5 rocket. It should have been voted on by the member states of the European Space Agency (ESA) on July 13th. … But, unlike France, Germany was not ready for it.

The matter is now settled.

The two countries, which are among the biggest contributors to the ESA budget, have come to an agreement.

"This is a culmination after twelve months of work",

declared, Wednesday July 21, Bruno Le Maire, during a last joint press conference with his German counterpart, Peter Altmaier, before the German legislative elections in September.
