Bitcoin: speculation about Amazon job advertisement drives price up

The Bitcoin price has risen sharply. The trigger is apparently a job advertisement on Amazon: The advertisement raises hopes that the online retailer could soon allow digital currencies as a means of payment.

Pay for Amazon's new washing machine with Bitcoin?

Such considerations arguably electrify the fan base of digital currencies.

Because apparently a job advertisement at the online retailer gave the Bitcoin course a boost.

The digital currency gained significantly at the start of the week.

On the Bitstamp trading platform, the largest cryptocurrency by market value cost up to $ 39,850 on Monday.

That is the highest level since mid-June.

In a daily comparison, the price increased by up to around 15 percent.

Other internet currencies such as Ether, XRP or Dogecoin also recorded double-digit rate gains.

In the market, the surcharges were justified with speculation about Amazon.

Based on a job advertisement for a management position in the crypto sector, considerations made the rounds that Amazon could accept digital currencies such as Bitcoin as a means of payment in the future.

In April, the carmaker Tesla helped set Bitcoin to a record high of just under $ 65,000 because the company temporarily accepted the cryptocurrency as a means of payment.

In May, Tesla boss Elon Musk distanced himself from Bitcoin via Twitter and caused a price slump with his surprising departure.

Musk had justified his skepticism at the time with the high power consumption during the generation (mining) of Bitcoins through complex computer computing processes.

In the end he had shown himself more conciliatory again.
