The variations in the price of a barrel of oil - internationally - cast doubts on the capacity of YPF, which promised there will be no more increases until the end of the year.

"We are going to keep it,"

said a senior executive of the oil company, who asked not to be identified.

"Crude is a commodity and if you have to import to refine it is at an international price. But we are ensuring that it

does not mean an import parity and pressure on the values at the pump,

" they confirmed in the state majority oil company.

YPF has already

increased prices by 28.3% through May

and from there promised that it would not make further corrections.

However, when the price of a barrel of crude oil began to climb, there were doubts in the rest of the market.

"If we transferred the import parity to the price,

the amounts would be almost 60% higher than those that YPF

currently

set

as its price policy," they highlighted in the company.

The rise of 70% between August 2020 and May 2021 of YPF fuels exceeded the accumulated inflation in those 9 months, or the evolution of the dollar in that period.

However, since the last two months have been frozen, fuels are already following these indicators.

According to YPF, a barrel of oil is paid at US $ 55 in the local market.

"Neuquén's oil is paid here at US $ 54, with an indication of reducing it to US $ 51 due to the self-imposed freeze by YPF. In the case of exports, the value of (a barrel of oil) Brent is worth US $ 72 / 73, which after deducting discounts and export duties is US $ 64/65 ", explains a consultant.

The price policy was one of the first triggers of conflicts between Guillermo Nielsen, former president of YPF, and the political wing within the oil company. Until August 2020, there were no increases. This situation was ordered with the departure of Nielsen and the arrival of Pablo González as president of the company.
