The International Monetary Fund confirmed that the Russian economy is recovering from the Corona pandemic crisis at a faster pace than expected, noting that its growth during the first quarter of this year is evidence of that.
According to the Russia Today website, the Fund stated in a report on the prospects for global economic development that the Russian economy is expected to grow in 2021 by 4 percent.
"Russian GDP growth in the first quarter was stronger than we expected, so growth forecasts have been raised," said IMF chief economist Gita Gopinath in a press briefing.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had indicated earlier that the Russian economy is expected to grow in 2021 by about 4 percent, and stressed the need to use such a positive trend in the economy to improve the living standards of Russian citizens.
