The joint negotiations accelerated in the last hours with the closing of salary increases of up to 45% and the reopening of agreements in the private sector
.
This is a figure higher than the goal initially set for the entire year by the Government (29%).
After more than a month of protests and strikes,
the Health union
led by Carlos West Ocampo and the co-owner of the CGT, Héctor Daer,
sealed a 45% increase on Thursday for 320,000 private medicine employees
.
The 2021 parity, which was pending, will be paid in four tranches (15% in July, 15% in September, 10% in November and 5% in February, with revision).
The union had called for a
strike
for next Wednesday.
Last Tuesday Labor had issued the conciliation.
The understanding with the Health union would be on the condition that the prepayments manage to raise the
fees in August, September, October and January: 9% in each tranche and cumulative.
Also this Wednesday there were other developments on the joint issue. In the automotive sector
, the metalworking union (SMATA) and the chamber of dealers (ACARA) signed an increase of 11.3% for the third quarter, which represents
a cumulative increase of 43.2% until September
, although since the Chamber clarified that the new increase contemplates the lack of increases in the second quarter of last year.
SMATA is practically the only union that updates salaries on a quarterly basis and with a scheme tied to inflation
in the terminals
. There, an increase of 11.3% corresponding to the second quarter will be granted in the coming days. Thus, the accumulated figure for the first semester will be 25%, equal to inflation in that period, and
the annual increase could exceed 50%
.
"
It serves us
, we have it since 2010 and it does not generate the tensions that others have every year when they sit down to negotiate, it
gives everyone predictability," they said from a terminal
.
In most activities, on the other hand, requests to renegotiate salaries began to proliferate, after the pattern at the beginning of the year was buried, which provided for increases of between 29 and 35%.
The first signal came from Cristina Kirchner when, at the beginning of June, she signed with Sergio Massa a 40% increase
for employees of Congress, a gesture that was later seconded in the private sector by Truckers (45%) and the anticipated reopening of negotiations Bankers (43%) and Porters (45%).
Now, the Construction activity will be added
.
The union headed by Gerardo Martínez seeks to close
an additional 10 and 14%
with the activity chamber
to bring the annual increase to between 45 and 49%
. In April they had sealed 35.8% in installments until February, of which 24% had already been made effective and which was behind inflation, which in July would reach 29%. "It is signed these days," confirmed Martínez.
Another sector that reopened its joint venture with a nod from the Ministry of Labor is commerce
.
The idea of the union is to
add an additional increase of 10% (5% in August and 5% in November) to the 32% agreed last April and thus
reach 42% in the year
. But there was still no agreement, so the union and the activity chambers went on Thursday to an intermission room for next week.
On the other hand,
the oil producers also seek to review the agreement
reached last December from 25% to August and now incorporate an additional 17% increase. "The feeling is that
the activities that had reached agreements around 30/35% are going to have to revise them
inevitably if they do not want to stay far behind inflation," said Luis Campos, from the CTA's Social Rights Observatory.
In its reactivation plan, the Government includes other tools for wages to recover.
"As of June, the parity companies began to close with a 4 forward,
the government's logic of putting pesos in people's pockets implies that the salary beats inflation and for that they resort to a classic
in electoral years: the exchange and rate anchor and price freezes, "said Martín Vauthier, economist at Anker Latin America.
But even so, it is still not clear if this year salaries will beat prices.
"As in recent years,
the parity companies continue to lag behind inflation
, which means that some activities have to have several revisions throughout the year," Campos warned.
