The back-to-school allowance will be paid on Tuesday August 17 in metropolitan France and in the departments of Guadeloupe, Guyana and Martinique, on Tuesday August 3 in the departments of Mayotte and Réunion, announced the Ministry of Solidarity. and health this Friday.

This aid concerns around three million families, which represents five million children.

What amount?

"The back-to-school allowance provides support to these families at a time when they have to cope with a spike in spending on the occasion of the start of the school year", explains the ministry in a press release. Means-tested, it is modulated according to the age of the child: its amount amounts to 370.31 euros for children from 6 to 10 years old, to 390.74 euros for children from 11 to 14 years old and at 404, 28 euros for teenagers from 15 to 18 years old. In Mayotte, the amount of the allowance is 372.17 euros for children enrolled in primary school, 392.70 euros for middle school students and 406.31 euros for high school students.

"The resource ceiling below which families are entitled to the back-to-school allowance varies depending on the number of dependent children on July 31, 2021," the ministry said.

If the ceiling is slightly exceeded, the family concerned receives an allowance at a reduced rate, decreasing according to its income.

For who ?

The back-to-school allowance is granted for each child enrolled in an establishment or with a public or private educational institution, from the age of 6 to 18 years.

For the start of the 2021 school year, the ARS can be paid for each child in school born between September 16, 2003 and December 31, 2015 inclusive, as well as for each child born after this date and already enrolled in CP upon presentation of a school certificate. .

How to benefit from it?

Families already receiving benefits who meet the conditions and have children aged 6 to 15 do not need to take any action, the ARS is paid to them automatically. On the other hand, families with children aged 16 to 18 must provide a declaration on their honor attesting that their child is still in school or in apprenticeship. And those whose child reaches his sixth birthday after December 31, 2021 and is admitted to the preparatory course (CP) for the start of the school year must send their CAF / MSA a school certificate to benefit from the ARS. Finally, families who are not yet beneficiaries must apply to their CAF in their personal space or to the MSA.
