Preference for physical stores

The survey was conducted at the end of July, among a national sample representing 305 Jewish men and women aged 30-60, who are parents of children aged 6-18, and tend to shop for products other than food from online sites in Israel and / or abroad. The survey was conducted among a sample surfers IPanel, encompassing 130,000 people, the largest in Israel.



81% of those surveyed indicated that they intend to buy goods back to school (equipment and textbooks) in physical stores in the country, while 47% said they purchased on online local and international. 38% Respondents said they would buy products only in physical stores in the country and 4% said they would only buy online. 43% of respondents in the survey indicated that they would buy back-to-school products in both physical stores in the country and through the Internet.

Multi-channel shopping: Check prices and buy online

The survey by the Israel Post and the I2R Integration Institute shows that the lower the average income, the more the public buys in physical stores: 49% of below-average income earners said they would buy back-to-school products only in physical stores in Israel, compared to 27% of average and 36 income earners. % Of above-average income earners.



About half of men (49%) said they would purchase both physical stationery and online stores, compared to 38% of women.

48% of people aged 40-49 said they would buy both online and in stores in the country, compared to 33% of people aged 50-60.

Residents of the northern region will buy less in both channels, with only 31% saying they will buy both, compared to about 49% among residents of the center, south and lowlands.



According to Kedem: "We see a phenomenon of multi-channel shopping, when the customer uses several channels for shopping, he will perform tests and comparisons on online sites and will physically purchase the products in neighborhood stores and malls, or vice versa. This trend of recovery in online shopping, compared to last year This is also reflected in the median data of the Israel Post, in which we saw a 32% increase in orders from abroad in the first half of the year compared with the corresponding period last year.

Prefer to buy on Israeli sites

This year, the Israeli public prefers to purchase back-to-school products in Israeli online networks. Of the online shoppers, 43% indicated that they would buy mainly on websites in Israel and 19% indicated that they would buy mainly on websites from abroad. About a third of shoppers (29%) indicated that they would buy from websites in Israel and / or abroad to the same extent.



A third of those planning to buy back-to-school products online are expected to buy more than last year, compared to 21% who indicated they would buy less. A third of those planning to buy online will buy the same as last year.



School bags and stationery are popular return products to schools to purchase online ahead of the school year. The most popular products for purchase online are school bags and schoolbags (61% said they intend to buy), stationery (61%), pencil cases (52%), notebooks / pads (49%), book and notebook stickers (47%), and folders / Nylons / chasers / dividers / binders (45%).

Up to NIS 500 when buying products for school

Kravitz is the leading online shopping site in the country, followed by: Office Depot, Max Stock and Steimatzky.

Ali Express is the leading international website for shopping for back-to-school products, followed by SHEIN and eBay.



67% of those planning to buy back-to-school products online stated that they would order from Israeli sites, with the leading site being Kravitz (38%), followed by: Office Depot (30%), Max Stock (27%) and Steimatzky (22%).



61% of those intending to buy back-to-school items online indicated that they would buy from overseas sites, with the leading international site being Ali Express (47%), followed by SHEIN (22%), eBay (20%) and Amazon (16%) .

More expensive high school products

Among those planning to buy back-to-school products, 34% of parents of children aged 6-18 indicated that they would spend up to NIS 250, 45% would spend NIS 251-500 and 16% would spend over NIS 500.

Among those who plan to buy back-to-school products in physical stationery stores, the amounts are similar: 38% said they would spend up to NIS 250 on average in shopping, 46% would spend NIS 251-500 on average, and 13% would spend over NIS 500 on average.



Logically, parents of one child will spend less on shopping products back to school, than a family with 2 or more children.

In the survey, 50% of households with one child said they would spend up to NIS 250 on online shopping, compared with 21% of households with two children.

56% of households with two children will spend more - between NIS 250-500 on buying back-to-school products, compared with households with only one child (30%).



51% of households with one school-age child said they would spend up to NIS 250 in physical stores, compared with 24% -33% of households with 2-3 children.

Among families with 3 children, 21% said they would spend more than NIS 500, compared with 9% of households with one child.

Older parents will spend more on average than younger parents, most likely because their children are in high school and need more expensive products.

51% of people aged 40-49 will spend NIS 251-500, compared to 35% of people aged 30-39.
