More than LBP 18,787 billion in revenues from the Damascus Countryside Branch of Social Insurance within seven months

Damascus, SANA- The revenues of the branch of the General Organization for Social Insurance in Damascus countryside have exceeded since the beginning of this year

The revenues of the branch of the General Organization for Social Insurance in Damascus countryside since the beginning of this year until the end of July have exceeded 18.787 billion Syrian pounds.

The number of workers participating in insurances for the same period reached 5,327 workers in the public sector, 12,762 workers in the private sector and 33 workers in the joint sector, while the number of new employers in the private sector who were involved in insurances reached 3,537 employers, according to branch manager Ali Mahfoud.

Mahfoud indicated in a statement to SANA that the total number of workers registered in the branch from the private sector is 83,532, in the public sector is 78,854, and in the joint and cooperative sector is 466 workers. The cooperative has 15 facilities.

The number of inspection visits, according to Mahfoud, reached 609 during the first seven months of this year, during which 2,399 workers were registered, 55 violations were organized against violating employers, 54 new employers were involved, and 2,500 employers were warned for defaulting on the insurance contributions due to workers.

Regarding the branch's debt owed by the private sector, its director stated that its total value until the end of last July amounted to more than 7.204 billion pounds, while the branch's debt to the public sector amounted to more than 20.350 billion pounds.

Mahfoud pointed out that the value of payment of the private sector during the past seven months of this year amounted to more than 8,555 billion pounds, and the public sector 7.156 billion pounds in exchange for contributions for their workers and other entitlements, while the value of the amounts paid as injury costs for workers exceeded 482 million pounds.

Regarding the work of the branch related to decisions to allocate pensions and compensation, its director stated that the number of decisions issued regarding the payment of one-time compensation until last July amounted to 1,586 decisions worth more than 369 million pounds, and the number of decisions about end-of-service gratuity until the same period was 50 decisions with an expenditure amount exceeding 18 million pounds.

During the same period, the branch issued 1,784 decisions to allocate an old-age pension worth more than 96 million pounds, 42 decisions to disburse a disability pension worth about one and a half million pounds, and 860 decisions to disburse a death pension worth more than 27 million pounds.

Regarding the work injuries registered with the branch, Mahfoud explained that they amounted to 63 injuries during the same period, and the number of occupational diseases registered with the institution during the same period was 7 diseases.

The value of pensions disbursed until last July on the retirees of Damascus countryside amounted to more than 13,648 billion Syrian pounds. Damascus, 7,332 retirees, and the number of loans granted by the branch to retirees reached 56, with a financial value of more than 35 million pounds.

Until last July, the branch recorded 812 pledge contracts, under which the number of registered workers reached 966, and the amounts paid for contracts were more than 729 million pounds, while the number of building permits submitted during the same period reached 1812 permits, and the number of workers registered under these permits was 379 workers, and the amounts paid for these permits were more than 446 million pounds, and the number of cars from the public licenses registered with the Automotive Division until last July was 1,597 cars.

Mahfoud pointed out that a number of measures were taken to develop and facilitate the work by automating all the work of the departments in the branch in cooperation and coordination with the Informatics Directorate in the central administration to provide the best services and speed up the completion of transactions, explaining that work is currently underway in coordination with the Damascus Countryside Chamber of Commerce to complete the process of networking between it and the Rural Damascus Chamber of Commerce. The branch aimed to simplify the procedures for the papers required to renew the commercial registration, and an insurance employee was assigned to work in the one-stop shop of the Investment Authority to provide the best insurance services for employers wishing to invest in the Damascus countryside governorate.
