Hand in hand with local investors, the American pizza chain Sbarro will arrive in Argentina.

Its first store will open on Wednesday, August 25 on Corrientes Avenue.

And they plan to have 35 branches by 2025, with an estimated investment of 15 million pesos for each point of sale.

The arrival of the brand was made official in a meeting of businessmen with the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas.

There, led by the director of Sbarro Argentina, Rafael Pereira Aragón, they presented the expansion plan

under the franchise model of different formats.

For the opening of the first store, they already hired 45

people.

In the remainder of 2021, they plan to open another store

, to which they will add five more next year and eight more branches in 2023, while in 2024, they plan to open 10 stores and, in 2025, another 10, in order to reach a total of 35 branches, with an estimated investment of 15 million pesos for each one.

The Sbarro franchise belongs to

Desarrolladora Gastronómica, also the owner of the Kentucky and Dandy chains, among others

, and the company has a presence in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Costa Rica.

"Gastronomy is one of the

sectors hardest hit

by the pandemic. We are fully aware of the situation and the difficulties that the gastronomic sector is going through, which is slowly getting back on its feet," said Kulfas.

The official took advantage of the announcement to minimize the departure of multinationals from the country: "Today we add this great news of the arrival in the country of one of the most emblematic international pizza chains such as Sbarro, which is a reflection of the confidence of foreign companies to produce, generate work and settle in the country ".

"

It was 14 years since no North American chain had come to settle in Argentina

. This is the first company to return, and from the hand of an Argentine company, that is why it really is an important symbol. We operate this brand in the United States, in the city of Houston and we brought her here, "Pereira said.

Today, it operates in 26 countries.

It has more than 1000 franchises and plans to grow at the rate of 70 openings per year around the world.

In addition to XXL pizzas and portions, it sells strombolis, drinks, desserts and more products, in

a format similar to fast-food, without table service.
