Business start-ups fell by 1% in France in July

Over the last three months, the cumulative number of business creations is up 16.9% compared to the same period a year earlier.


French business creations fell in July after a rebound the previous month, the balance remaining positive over the last three months, according to INSEE figures released on Friday.

Last month, business start-ups fell 1%, after rising 0.7% in June.

Registrations of microentrepreneurs are down again (-0.9% after -0.2%), and traditional business creations reverse the trend compared to the previous month (-1.1% after + 2.2% ).

A particularly marked drop in industry and construction

The drop in creations is strong in the industry and construction sector (-10.1% each time).

Contrary to the average, business start-ups increased in education, health and social action activities (+ 10.6%).

The cumulative number of businesses created over the last three months (May to July) is still up sharply compared to the same period a year earlier (+ 16.9%).

The “

business support

” sector

largely contributed to the increase, in particular public relations and communications consulting activities.
