Dinahosting has a curious history: any technology company that has not fallen into the hands of investment funds or multinationals has it.

It was born in 2001 in Santiago de Compostela as Dinaweb, a provider of bespoke web pages.

There were only 10 employees, who managed five or six domain extensions, and offered only two hosting packages.

Two decades later, the company has changed partners (only one of the founders remains), but it is still Galician, although with 120 workers, 400 domain extensions, a multitude of hosting plans and other services such as virtualization,

cloud,

dedicated servers, legal advice or technical consulting. The world, at the same time, has become more and more complicated. Especially after the pandemic. Carlos Suárez, its technical director, says that last year the request for high accommodation

(hosting)

skyrocketed by 60%

, and also that many companies were unable to meet the costs of maintaining businesses that were going under.

Anyone can think that one web hosting service can be the same as another. Telephony, with continuous price wars, is almost becoming a

commodity

. In the case of web hosting, something similar happens, although in the face of this trend they defend a reliable, national and polyglot model (their attention service responds in several languages, including all national ones, with a response all day, every day).

Alberto de la Morena, commercial director, has 150,000 clients, who manage 278,000 domains and some 170,000 hostings. “We try to be as competitive as possible. We are not the cheapest company in the sector, but we are in a very competitive position ”. In 2020 its turnover was similar to that of 2019, which according to the Mercantile Registry was 11.7 million, with a net result of 1.4 million. "In 2020 we are committed to customer discounts to be close to companies, especially many customers who were forced to digitize." Regarding the differences with other providers, Suárez adds that they develop their own software and have tools that make portability almost without customer intervention. And they do not aspire, like other technology companies, to grow without profitability.“This business is not about getting paid and that's it. At Dinahosting you are attended by people, we worry about not losing any contact, we do not have a high rate of incidents (complaints) ”. And so they hope to launch new services. Without opening commercial delegations, from Galicia (the only thing they have outside the autonomous community are the servers, in Madrid).
