Official data in China revealed today that China's total imports and exports rose 23.7 percent year on year in the first eight months of this year.
According to data from the General Administration of Customs of China quoted by Xinhua, "China's total imports and exports approached 24.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to 3.84 trillion dollars in the mentioned period."
She noted that this figure also represents an increase of 22.8 percent over the same period in 2019.
The trade surplus rose 17.8 percent year on year during the period to 2.34 trillion yuan, while exports rose 18.9 percent year on year to 3.43 trillion yuan.
Last April, the National Statistics Authority of China revealed that the Chinese economy grew by 18.3 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2021.
