It's a blow to Valneva.
The British government has canceled the order for anti-Covid vaccines placed last year with the Franco-Austrian biotech.
The contract, which amounted to 1.4 billion euros, provided for the delivery of 100 million doses in 2021-2022 (with an option on an additional 90 million until 2025).

Valneva's disappointment is up to the hopes placed around this contract, the only one to date completed by biotech.

Valneva has worked tirelessly, and invested to the best of its ability, in its collaboration with [the UK government], including committing significant resources and showing a very strong commitment to meet the demands of the UK government on vaccines adapted to variants,
”said the Nantes-based company, which hopes to market its vaccine before the end of the year.

The announcement caused a wave of panic among investors, the title unscrewing by more than 40%, to 11.5 euros,
