Parallel to the summit between Presidents Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin, a meeting was held following the work of the joint Syrian-Russian governmental committee headed by Mansour Azzam, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Committee on the Syrian side, and Yury Borisov, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Committee on the Russian side.
During the meeting, a deep evaluation of the formulas and projects of economic cooperation between the two friendly countries was conducted, as well as a discussion of a number of joint agreements and projects in the fields of agriculture, industry, energy, water and information technology, in addition to the measures taken with the aim of facilitating and enhancing trade exchange between the two countries, emphasizing the pivotal role of the business sector in both countries in this field.
The talks also dealt with the reality and prospects of providing the appropriate environment to encourage joint investments in projects that create added values in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples, and the ongoing preparations for holding the thirteenth session of the joint government committee, where the two sides expressed their satisfaction with the efforts made in the context of developing economic relations.
The meeting was attended from the Syrian side by the Minister of Finance, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the Syrian ambassador in Moscow, and from the Russian side by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Deputy Minister of Finance and a number of officials concerned with following up the file of joint economic cooperation.
