The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is following up the implementation of alternative housing towers in the second regulatory area south of the southern ring road “Basilia City” through a number of its construction companies.

The Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Suhail Abdul Latif, explained in his statement to SANA’s delegate that the implementation rate of the six towers currently implemented by the ministry of alternative housing exceeded 24 percent, while work was started recently on five other towers in conjunction with the announcement of five towers also for contracting by companies. .

Minister Abdel Latif indicated that the total number of alternative housing towers is 48, with a contract completion period of three years for each tower, where work is progressed and completed in each tower according to the site's readiness, files, and the sites are cleared of occupancy.

Minister Abdel Latif clarified that the regulatory area of Decree 66 includes two sections, the first belonging to the governorate of Damascus and the second private property. As for alternative housing, a number of companies affiliated with the ministry through the Public Corporation for Housing, in addition to companies from other public bodies, including the General Company for Roads and Bridges, the General Company for Building and Reconstruction and the Public Corporation for the Implementation of Military construction and the Military Housing Corporation, considering that the presence of this number of companies in the implementation creates an atmosphere for competition among them in terms of quality and speed of implementation.

Regarding the obstacles that hinder the work of the alternative housing towers, Minister Abdel Latif explained that they are represented in the need to amend the studies submitted to some of the towers in terms of the mismatch between plans and implementation on the ground, which causes delays in completion, indicating that a joint committee was formed to amend the study that includes all concerned parties present in Work site permanently to address any problem on the ground, if any, and shorten the time.

The subscription of the beneficiaries of alternative housing is registered according to Minister Abdul Latif after receiving the nominal lists from the governorate of Damascus, informing the beneficiaries and organizing regular subscriptions and schedules. Accordingly, the first payment was delivered and the beneficiaries were given subscription books to pay the monthly installments through the bank, pointing out that the Housing Corporation organizes the subscription and receipt process installments and announcing the files, in addition to its work in following up the implementation and supervising the work.

In another context, the Minister of Public Works and Housing revealed the readiness of a number of apartments in several governorates, which will be announced for their allocation in the coming days. They are of the type of “labor, youth and saving” housing.

Regarding the follow-up to the automation project, Minister Abdel Latif pointed out that work is continuing to simplify the procedures through the Citizen Service Center, which has expanded its services and included several ministries, explaining that the completion rate of the ministry's work automation project has reached about 65 percent.
