The Prime Minister, Engineer Hussein Arnous, approved the recommendation of the Economic Committee, which included supporting the proposal of the ministries of finance and industry, to grant the General Corporation for Ginning and Marketing of Cottons a financial loan of 181.707 billion Syrian pounds to purchase the beloved cotton and cotton seeds from farmers for the season 2021-2022.

The Director General of the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing, Adel Al-Khatib, explained in a statement to SANA’s representative the benefit of this procedure in terms of securing the necessary financial liquidity for the institution in order to purchase the crop from farmers after setting the price of a kilogram of it at 2,500 Syrian pounds, which contributes to implementing the objectives of the agricultural production plan and providing support to farmers and encouraging them to Continue to grow this strategic crop.

Al-Khatib added: The loan comes within the framework of government support for cotton cultivation, and the purchase and supply of the largest possible amount of beloved cotton and seeds to meet the needs of the yarn and oil companies and their continuity of work and production.

At the beginning of this month, the Prime Minister approved the recommendation of the Economic Committee, which included setting the purchase price for one kilogram of the beloved cotton crop from farmers for the 2021 season at an amount of 2500 Syrian pounds, linking the ginning land and the receiving centers of the General Organization for Ginning and Marketing of Cotton.
