Oil prices rose today, extending their weeks-long gains, with increased demand for energy.

Reuters reported that Brent crude rose 81 cents, or one percent, to $83.20 a barrel, after rising about four percent last week.

US crude rose $1.15, or 1.5 percent, to $80.50 a barrel.
