Winter sports: recruiting seasonal workers is now

2021-10-11T13:45:11.463Z

Five weeks before the first ski resort openings, professionals began recruiting seasonal workers in advance.

Good start for seasonal recruitments… But the 2021-2022 season promises to be complicated according to QAPA, Adecco's 100% online digital solution specializing in seasonal recruiting. After an almost blank year, mountain professionals expect in particular a very significant increase in attendance. During the Congress of the Ski Areas of France, at the end of September, Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the Secretary of State for Tourism confirmed the reopening of the ski lifts but specified that he was awaiting the health instructions, the details of which will be known. on October 13 during the presentation in the Council of Ministers of the bill on health vigilance.

Under these conditions, the 320 ski resorts but also the tourist areas therefore need to recruit a large number of seasonal workers at the same time when many people have abandoned this route during the Covid crisis.

According to Domaine Skiable de France, nearly 15,000 positions are to be filled.

8 billion turnover lost last winter

“The challenge for professionals is therefore to recruit available profiles very quickly and as early as possible, knowing that the first stations will open in 5 weeks,” explains the platform, which already has several tens of thousands of available positions.

“It is undoubtedly to remedy this lack of candidates that the recruitments of seasonal workers, on temporary contracts or on fixed-term contracts, began earlier than in previous years,” notes Qapa.

According to this platform, the ten most sought-after jobs are those of waiters, cooks, salespeople, chambermaids, order pickers, divers, ski mans, receptionists, maintenance technicians or even self-service employees.

For this winter, unsurprisingly, job offers are mainly concentrated in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

However, demand is also high in Île-de-France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

After a loss of turnover estimated at eight billion euros last year for the winter, ski resort professionals are stepping up their efforts, particularly on social networks to attract candidates or in forums to recruit, just like ski areas of France which also publishes on its site hundreds of positions to be filled in CDD or CDI.
