China's Vice Foreign Minister Lu Yucheng said his country rejects US accusations that Beijing is pursuing a "policy contrary to global market trends."
In an interview with China's CGTN TV, the Chinese diplomat added: We firmly reject the accusations contained in the statement of US Trade Representative Catherine Tai and affirm that they are baseless. It must be made clear that China and the United States have common interests.
Yucheng noted that despite US attempts to disrupt the supply chain and the impact of the coronavirus epidemic, bilateral trade continues to grow.
"Economic and trade cooperation is vital to the common interests of China and the United States," Li said. "We hope the US government will indeed change course and work with the business community to turn economic and trade cooperation into an icebreaker in Sino-US relations."
Earlier, Tai said that Washington intends to raise the issue of "anti-market policy" of the Chinese authorities during meetings with Chinese officials.
