Tesco, one of the largest food retailers in the world, today inaugurated an autonomous supermarket in central London, using computer vision technology developed by the Israeli startup company Trigo. The store is the first supermarket in the world, featuring a range of more than 2,500 products, operating without checkouts and checkouts, beyond Amazon Go which operates a number of stores with similar technology.



Unlike Amazon stores which were built specifically for the benefit of technology, with the help of Trigo technology it is possible to convert an existing supermarket into a modern supermarket, allowing for a better user experience for shoppers who shop at a store that sells to them. The Tesco chain is the fourth largest food retailer in the world with revenues of about $ 74 billion and over 7,000 stores in 11 countries around the world.



Trigo's technology recognizes the products that each customer collects for the basket by combining cameras, an artificial intelligence system and computer vision that analyzes the images, similar to autonomous vehicle technology.



At the end of the purchase, the customer leaves the supermarket without any delay or need to scan and receives the invoice directly to the retailer's mobile app. Trigo's system also knows how to identify products that the buyer holds in his hand, bag, or shopping cart, and allows consumers to shop quickly without fear of delays behind other buyers' loaded carts.



Trigo's system is designed in accordance with the strictest privacy standards in the world and does not collect or analyze biometric information or use facial recognition methods.



The system anonymously centralizes information about buyers' preferences used by the network to streamline its work and service to consumers.



Trigo is the world leader in software development for autonomous stores and integrated in giant chains such as the German REWE and ALDI in addition to operations in the UK and USA.
