The Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade issued a decision to form the Syrian-Emirati Business Council with the aim of activating the role of the private sector in developing economic cooperation between the two countries in all its commercial, industrial, agricultural and tourism fields.

The decision, a copy of which was received by SANA today, aims to develop cooperation in the investment field and the reconstruction of Syria by benefiting in particular from the advantages and incentives included in the new Investment Law No. 18 of 2021, thus opening wide scope for many opportunities and areas for joint cooperation and creating flexible mechanisms to reduce restrictions and obstacles that It hinders the development of bilateral cooperation.

The decision included naming Ghazwan Al-Masry as chairman of the council and Anas Maatouk as vice-chairman, and the Emirati side is scheduled to form the counterpart council, according to the ministry's clarifications.

It is noteworthy that the decision came as an implementation step of what was agreed upon during the meeting that brought together the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Samer Al-Khalil, with the UAE Minister of Economy, Abdullah Tawk, on the sidelines of the opening of the Syrian pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai.
