The Council of State validated this Friday the entry into force on October 1 of the new calculation of unemployment benefit, according to the CGT and the government.
According to the executive, these new rules are intended to encourage job seekers to accept longer contracts, especially since employers will also be encouraged to offer them by setting up a “Bonus-malus” on unemployment contributions in certain sectors that are large consumers of short contracts.
Since October 1, new members of the Pôle emploi have been applying a new method of calculating the daily reference wage (SJR) which serves as the basis for determining the amount of their allowance.
According to Unédic, 1.15 million new unemployed will see their compensation decrease.
Other restrictive measures will also come into effect from December.
The unions had seized the Council of State hoping to obtain, as in June, the suspension of these new rules.
