The Ifo Economic Institute in Germany announced today that expectations for the country's exports in October fell to the lowest level since last February due to the industrial sector being affected by problems in the supply of raw materials.
Reuters quoted the institute as saying that "export expectations fell to 13 points in October, 20.5 points in the previous month, and the industries most affected include electrical equipment, chemicals and automobile manufacturing."
"On the other hand, it is expected that exports in the fields of food and furniture will remain unchanged," he added.
The Ifo Institute revealed yesterday that its index of business climate in Germany fell to 97.7 from an upwardly revised 98.9 last September, the lowest reading of the index since last April.
