As a co-founder of the data analytics company Palantir, Joe Lonsdale has become a billionaire.

In addition to recognition for his entrepreneurial performance, the American also gets negative headlines again and again.

For example, allegations of abuse by a Stanford student had temporarily banned him from entering the elite campus.

Now he sparked a dispute with a tweet in which he gave his views on equality.

The trigger was the discussion that US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is pausing to look after his newborn twins.

It's great for dads when they can spend time with their children and support the mothers, Lonsdale tweeted.

"(...) but every man in an important position who takes six months off for a newborn is a loser." And then he added: "In the past, men had children and worked harder to provide for their future - that is the correct masculine answer. "

Buttigieg took parental leave in mid-August.

Aversion to liberal ideas

Lonsdale's tweet caused (public) head shaking not only among investors.

Garry Tan, founder of Initialized Capital, said that being a father is great and that there is a lot more to life than work and money.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian tweeted that he would take his full paternity leave again.

It helped him to make money even more effectively.

Lonsdale then rows back a little.

The use of the word "loser" is unnecessary and he respects different lifestyles.

But he also let it be known that he still believes his views are correct.

In November 2020, investor Lonsdale moved from San Francisco to Austin, Texas, in protest against liberal politics in California.

He is currently the managing partner of 8VC, a venture capital company that claims to manage billions of dollars in committed capital.
