The boom in maritime transport benefits the Danish AP Moller-Maersk, the world leader.
The giant of the seas posted a net profit of 5.43 billion dollars in the third quarter, six times more than last year.
And it has decided to accelerate its growth by opening up to air transport and logistics.
It has just announced the acquisition of German Senator International (1,700 employees), a player in “freight forwarding”.
This activity consists in managing, for a customer, the operations of different types of transport.
Senator International is mainly in maritime and air transport (65% of its turnover), and is worth 644 billion dollars.
