16 billion euros in turnover and 96,000 employees: from now on, Bouygues' primary business will no longer be construction - its historical activity - but “multitechnical” services linked to building and industry. The group chaired by Martin Bouygues and led by Olivier Roussat won the competition organized by Engie to sell Equans, its subsidiary in the sector. The winner bet 7.1 billion euros to achieve it, estimating at this price the value of the company. The operation, announced on the night of Friday 5 to Saturday 6 November, and which will have to obtain the approval of the competition authorities, should be finalized in the second half of 2022.
This acquisition of Equans is a major strategic move for Bouygues.
The group is already present in multitechnical services, but until now it achieved "only" 4 billion euros in turnover.
