The pandemic has forced the brand to make a very sharp turn towards online commerce.
In 2020, its sales fell 3.5% due to the closure of its stores.
But they have since skyrocketed, by 35% in the first half of 2021.
The activity of Maison du Monde is driven by the growing attention that Europeans pay to their interior.
Most of the players benefited from this favorable trend.
In its 2020-2021 fiscal year, sales of Ikea, the leader in decoration and furnishings in France with 14% of the market, climbed 4%.
Launch of a marketplace
Maison du Monde has, however, gained market share from its competitors, in part thanks to its good performance in e-commerce.
The brand now arrogates 4.3% of online sales
