Rent, or mortgage, is the first item of expenditure constraints, with 656 euros per month.
Then come transport, with 198 euros - including 108 euros for fuel against 96 euros in November 2020 -, and consumer credit, with 161 euros per month.
If, for an average household, these expenses represent 35% of its budget, this weight is not the same for all income categories. For the poorest households, the share of expenditure constraints in the budget reaches 68% (i.e. 896 euros per month), against nearly 40% for a couple with two children in the middle category (i.e. 1466 euros per month), or 22 % for high income (i.e. 1647 euros per month). In the budget of retirees, who for many of them have finished repaying their mortgage, this share only represents 26%. It also varies by region, with Île-de-France leading the way with a share of 30% in average net monthly income, followed by Hauts-de-France, 38%, and Occitanie, 39%.
As the presidential elections approach, it's a safe bet that the subject of these expenses will take an important place in the debate.
Thus, 91% of respondents say they are in favor of government measures on constrained spending (lower taxes, price freeze, etc.).
