While 81% of women in France have already been victims of sexual harassment in public places, according to a survey conducted by Ipsos in March 2019, the Citymapper application which helps travelers to move in public transport and to feet, mobilizes.

It offers a new feature allowing you to choose a walking route using more frequented and better-lit streets.
Users will now be able to choose between a “
fast
” and “
main streets
”
commute
.
This second choice “
favors boulevards, avenues and the main streets.
We also avoid parks or underground passages
”, specifies the Citymapper team in its press release.
Safer, but also simpler
The application wants to allow its users to move around at night in a safer way but also more easily in unfamiliar terrain.
Indeed, although sometimes longer, this “
main streets
” route
is as simple as possible for users who do not know the neighborhood.

Main roads are generally easier to remember, so you can focus on your surroundings without having to take out your phone every two meters,
” emphasizes the GPS application.

The application also implements the possibility of sharing its position in real time, to one or more people who can see your position and your estimated time of arrival.
With the implementation of these two new features, the company hopes "that
they will help you get around town more safely
."
These two features are offered in all 107 cities covered by Citymapper, in more than 41 countries.
