After months of hesitation that keep the impression of rifts within the Biden Administration alive, the President of the United States officially announced on Monday that he wishes to re-elect Jay Powell as head of the Reserve Board of Governors federal.
In place since 2018, appointed to this post by Donald Trump, Jerome, alias Jay, Powell has broad Republican and Democratic support in the Senate, who will have to vote by February 1 to renew his mandate.
The news comes as the Fed is the subject of much criticism that it is slow to identify the danger of a lasting revival of inflation.
The maintenance of Jay Powell (68), moderate Republican, former Wall Street banker, is nevertheless presented by the White House as the choice of continuity and experience.
