The Real Estate Bank branch in Hama has obtained 442 million pounds of non-performing and unpaid real estate loans since the beginning of this year, as part of efforts to guarantee the rights of the bank and preserve public money.
Edmond Hanna, director of the bank, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the bank has developed a legal program and activated the claim and collection process from 400 borrowers, and it has been able to collect a large part of its debts from the borrowers, and it is continuing to collect all the debts incurred by the borrowers by legal means.
Edmond pointed out that the bank had acquired 3 houses and referred them to the judiciary after exhausting all legal methods and time periods to pay the value of the loans owed on the houses with the aim of returning the bank's dues.
Edmond indicated that the bank also rescheduled 10 real estate loans with a total value of about 30 million pounds after the borrowers made good faith payments, which amounted to 10 percent of the value of the loans.
