The President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has decreed that the mega-projects of his mandate - new Mexico City airport and tourist train in the Yucatan peninsula - represent
"national security"
issues in the
face of the constraint that these projects arouse. .

, according to a decree published Tuesday in the Official Journal which worries the opponents of the left power in place.
Three opposition parties have announced that they will appeal to the Supreme Court.

Elected at the end of 2018 for a single six-year term according to the Constitution, left-wing President Lopez Obrador launched the construction of a new airport in Mexico City, a 1,500 km Mayan tourist train through the Yucatan peninsula, or even of a refinery in Tabasco (south-east).
The executive has entrusted the army with carrying out some of these major projects.
Several legal complaints - “amparo”, or constitutional checks - have been filed against the Maya train, a project contested by local communities as well as the development of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec between the Caribbean and the Pacific.
"Zero corruption"
The president assured Tuesday that his decision would not complicate the audit of major projects (six-year term).
“It has nothing to do with transparency. We are all held to account, ”
he said at his daily press conference.

. The National Institute for Access to Information (INAI) has however announced an appeal to the Supreme Court because the presidential decision
“violates the right of access to information”
