Ankara, SANA- The Turkish lira fell back to a new record level today, amid fears of high inflation and a collapse

Ankara-Sana

The Turkish lira fell back to a new record today, amid fears of high inflation and other economic repercussions, after it plunged 15 percent the previous day.

Reuters reported that the lira fell 13.1500 against the dollar, before falling to 13.05, after touching its lowest level ever at 13.45 yesterday.

The Turkish currency recorded record lows in 11 consecutive sessions, bringing its losses since the beginning of this year to 43 percent, including about 24 percent incurred since the beginning of last week.

The continued depreciation of the Turkish currency is mainly due to Erdogan's repeated interventions in monetary policy and the rapid changes he has imposed in the leadership of the Central Bank.
