The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) cut its estimates for global economic growth to 5.6 percent in 2021, 0.1 percent lower than previous expectations, amid fears that the inflation rate will rise for a longer period.
The organization stated in a report today that the previous forecasts for global GDP growth were in the range of 5.7 percent, and the report expected the global economy to grow by 4.5 percent and 0.02 percent in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The report also expected that the economy of the United States, the largest global economy, would grow by 5.6 percent in 2021 and 3.7 percent next year, less than previous expectations of 6 percent and 3.9 percent, respectively.
The organization also lowered its forecast for euro zone gross domestic product in 2021 and left it unchanged in 2022 to 5.2 percent and 4.3 percent, respectively.
Previous estimates had expected the eurozone economy to grow by 5.3 percent in 2021.
