Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh discussed with the Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry mechanisms for benefiting from the provisions of Law No. 30 of 2021 regarding exempting the import of local industry inputs with a customs duty of 1 percent from customs duties, taxes and other fees, and ways to provide industrial work requirements to continue the production process in facilities private sector.
The research dealt with how to take advantage of the law to reduce the costs of producing goods and products, which would have a positive impact on local markets and price stability in them.
The members of the Federation Council stressed that the start of implementing the provisions of Law 30 has begun to give positive repercussions on the production process and the arrival of the product in its final form to the consumer at an appropriate and acceptable price.
They pointed out the need to implement the recommendations of the Third Industrial Conference for the year 2018, due to their comprehensiveness to all the problems facing the re-circulation of production and the treatment of customs distortions, especially those related to the materials of iron sheet and POI yarns, and the reduction of interest rates for operational loans and the expansion of lending to restore facilities with subsidized interests.
The Minister of Industry stressed the importance of a unified vision between the government and the union for all issues, especially in light of what the industrial sector suffered during the terrorist war, stressing that the Ministry of Industry is working to overcome difficulties and obstacles to advance the national industry in all fields, and the union should be of assistance to the ministry and the government through a comprehensive view of all episodes Production and the start of a new era in dealing and dealing, as the industrial sector in Syria cannot achieve its renaissance and new start without the solidarity of the public and private sectors.
The minister asked the members of the Federation Council to work on addressing the confusion in the description of the raw materials used in some industries, in addition to tax evasion, and the necessity of closing this file.
The head of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry, Eng. Faris Al-Shihabi, referred to the work of the union with all its members to reach acceptable solutions to the problems and obstacles that hinder industrial work.
At the end of the meeting, it was agreed to hold specialized meetings between the Ministry of Industry and the Federation with the concerned ministers to discuss the difficulties and obstacles that hinder the work of industrialists.
