The European Union unveiled, at the end of November, the updated list of airlines subject to restrictions or bans from activity in Europe.

As noted by BFMTV, 97 operators are now on the blacklist, against 103 last July.

These companies do not "meet international safety standards," the document said.

Surveillance and security issue

All airlines from 15 countries - Afghanistan, Angola, Armenia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Libya, Nepal, São Tomé and Príncipe, Sierra Leone and Sudan - are on this list, "due to inadequate safety oversight by the aviation authorities of those States".

They alone represent 90 operators.

The other members of the blacklist are: Avior Airlines (Venezuela), Blue Wing Airlines (Suriname), Iran Aseman Airlines (Iran), Iraqi Airways (Iraq), Med-View Airlines (Nigeria), Skol Airline LLC (Russia) and Air Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe).

They are accused of "serious breaches of security".

In addition, the companies Iran Air (Iran) and Air Koryo (North Korea) are subject to a restriction, which means that they can only operate on European territory with a certain type of aircraft.

According to The Aviation Journal, Moldovan companies, which had been banned in the EU for two years, have been removed from the blacklist.
