The years go by and, fortunately for the trade, are not alike. 2018 had been disrupted by the "yellow vests", 2019 handicapped by the strike against the pension reform, and 2020 marked with the iron of the pandemic. The stores had to close their doors all November, a few weeks before Christmas. This year, traders are hoping for a season without major obstacles. After so many mishaps, they remain cautious.
“The consumption lights are green. This end of the year can be good ”,
estimates Emmanuel Le Roch, the general delegate of Procos, which brings together 200 brands.
Traders are first happy to have escaped new health restrictions.
“Their return was our greatest fear,”
explains Yohann Petiot, general delegate of the Alliance du commerce, which represents major clothing brands.
New store closures in December or the introduction of a curfew would have been catastrophic.
