Whether in the fight against Corona or in the Brexit negotiations: Michael O'Leary, head of the Ryanair airline, considers the government in London to be incapable. He also has tough words ready for those who have not been vaccinated.

Michael O'Leary, head of the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair, is considered argumentative to rowdy.

In the past few years he has been etching against his own employees and expressing himself disparagingly about Muslim men.

Now his verbal outrage is directed against the British government - and against those who have not been vaccinated.

In an interview with The Times newspaper, he said, “If you ran a company, you wouldn't hire Johnson, Michael Gove or Priri Patel. They are all idiots. "The government around Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Interior Minister Patel is stirring up" mass hysteria "in view of the corona variant Omikron, which is spreading rapidly across Europe -" probably to distract from all their party filth that they are in the have done in the past twelve months «. In no other country in Europe is the political leadership so "incompetent".

Premier Johnson is under pressure because of a Christmas party last year at which he allegedly broke corona rules. His spokeswoman had resigned in the wake of the affair. The Guardian also reported on Thursday that Johnson had also attended a garden party in May 2020.

Vice Prime Minister Michael Gove had shown himself to be extremely adamant in the Brexit negotiations with the EU. That too leads Ryanair boss O'Leary to drastic words. It makes him angry when he sees that British people can no longer stand in line for EU citizens at passport controls at airports. “Were you able to do something and negotiate some kind of compromise with the European Union? No ... you want to argue about five fishing boats in Jersey instead of saying, 'Look, let's make a bilateral deal that allows all British passengers to queue for EU passport controls when they travel across Europe,' ”said he.

In order to curb the spread of new variants of the coronavirus, unvaccinated people have to be dealt with much tougher, said O'Leary. Border closings are the wrong way to go, and tests are not efficient enough. But he has no problem with only letting vaccinated passengers fly. "We respect your right not to have you vaccinated if you are one of the extremists who believe in a major government or pharmaceutical conspiracy," he said. But unvaccinated people should not be able to go shopping, go to work or be admitted to hospital. When asked whether Ryanair would only let vaccination passport holders on board in the future, O'Leary hesitated, according to the Times report. Airlines cannot exclude passengers; governments can and should do that.

Current case numbers for the Omikron variant from Great Britain are worrying experts.

There, the number of infections is increasing dramatically.

Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) distributed a graphic on Twitter.

You can see two diagrams with data from London, one on the development of the number of cases, one on hospitalization.

In both cases, the direction of the curves points clearly upwards - but significantly steeper in the case numbers than in the case of hospital admissions.
