Jean Castex had announced it on Friday after the Health Defense Council, a decree officializing it on Monday: the overtime hours of midwives and paramedical staff in the hospital public service will be paid double their usual salary (increase of 100 % instead of 50%).
The same will apply for the additional working time of hospital practitioners.
As for the guards of hospital-university staff, they will be increased by 40% (against 20% so far).
The regulatory texts were published this Monday morning in the Official Journal, indicates Olivier Véran in a press release, which allows the implementation of this boost.
“For several months, several devices have been activated to deal with the epidemic and support the mobilization of caregivers at the national level,” recalls the Minister of Health.
"These systems are intended to promote the mobilization of health professionals, to support the increase in hospital costs in the face of the epidemic wave and to secure the capacity of public health establishments to meet the health needs of the population".
"In the context of exceptional mobilization of caregivers to face this fifth epidemic wave, the doubling of overtime pay for hospital staff is a strong signal, supports Olivier Véran, who says he is" fully committed to the side of caregivers so that we will be able to cope in the coming weeks and ensure the continuity of the health system ”.

With this temporary pay increase, the government is trying to send a message of support to caregivers, particularly hard hit by the permanent influx of Covid-19 patients since the start of the pandemic.
Almost the entire hospital system is currently operating under a “white plan” to treat victims of the fifth wave in the best conditions.
This device makes it possible to call back staff and reorganize departments.
