Employer President Rainer Dulger has changed his initially hesitant attitude towards a general vaccination requirement.

"For a long time I relied on the common sense of the people, but now I am very much in favor of a general vaccination requirement," said the chairman of the employers' association BDA to the "Handelsblatt".

And: "I consider it the only viable way to get the pandemic under control."

About a month ago, Dulger was even more hesitant.

»We rely on dialogue and conviction.

Therefore, a statutory vaccination is always only the second best solution.

But it must not be excluded from the outset, ”he told the Rheinische Post at the end of November.

Dulger warns of the habituation effect of short-time work benefits

The Heidelberg entrepreneur welcomes the planned renewed extension of the easier access to short-time work allowance in order to contain the economic consequences of the corona restrictions, but at the same time warns of habituation effects and increasing contributions to unemployment insurance.

"If it comes to an extension of the simplified reference, then two things are important to me: First: It must not become a permanent instrument - that would be a foreign body in a market economy."

Second, no debts should be incurred with the Federal Employment Agency.

"If the state wants that, then the federal agency needs the money from the federal budget and not through premium increases."
