Sharp drop in unemployment: only 6.5% in November

The decline in unemployment continues, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics published today.
According to data from November (compared to October 2021, among persons aged 15 and over):
• Percentage of unemployed persons in the labor force - 4.6% (5.2% in the previous month)
• Percentage of employed persons who were temporarily absent from work all week due to Corona + unemployment Employed persons - 5.1% (5.6% in the previous month).
• Percentage of the labor force of non-participants who stopped working due to dismissal or closure of the workplace from March 2020 + employed persons who were temporarily absent from work all week due to reasons related to Corona virus + unemployed - 6.5% (7.0% in the previous month).
The Employment Service clarifies that the decrease in the unemployment rate mainly reflects the decrease in the number of those entitled to unemployment benefits and not necessarily the number of those returning to the labor force.
By the way - the increase in the number of vacancies in the economy continues, most of them reflect the demand for engineers, with an emphasis on software developers.

In the second half of November, even more encouraging data were recorded, compared to the first half of November:
• Percentage of unemployed persons in the labor force - 4.3% (4.7% in the first half of November 2021)
• Percentage of employed persons temporarily absent from work all week due to virus-related Corona + the Unemployed - 4.7% (5.2% in the first half of November 2021)
• Percentage of the labor force of non-employed persons who stopped working due to dismissal or closure of the workplace from March 2020 + the employed who are temporarily absent from work all week due to Corona + Unemployed - 6.1% (6.7% in the first half of November 2021)

Increase in the rate of vacancies in September-November
• The vacancy rate in November is 5.03% (compared to 4.99% in October).
• The number of job vacancies in November is 143,478 (compared to 141,097 in October).
The main demand for employees is in the engineering sector, with an emphasis on engineers and software developers.
The demand for sales workers and representatives, waiters, cooks, kitchen and household workers and more continued.
